OUR HISTORY
The Foundation's History of Support and Donations
Since 1998 the Foundation has honored worthy graduating high school seniors for services to the community by awarding them cash scholarships. Over the years the award amount has grown and the award, which was initially granted to one student, now is awarded to two students a year;
Each year since 2000 the Philomath Community Foundation has supported the Philomath Community Services in their efforts to help community members in need through June’s Closet, community food baskets, Lupe’s Community gardens, and their many other community support efforts;
Philomath Community Foundation helped to fund the construction of a new building for the Philomath Youth Activities Club in 2000, and continues to support this organizations efforts with support of it’s community Carnival and other events;
The Philomath Rotary Club Tree project was supported by Philomath Community Foundation;
In 2001 a memorial fund was established in the name of former City of Philomath Police Chief, Russ Hunt, as a memorial scholarship. The Philomath Community Foundation awards a scholarship to a graduating senior from within the boundaries of the Philomath School District, including students from public, private or home schools. Emphasis will be placed with the graduate who demonstrates a desire to and a commitment to pursue a college education at either a community college or a 4-year institution, majoring in law enforcement or teaching;
Since 2001 the Philomath Community Foundation has supported the Benton County juvenile department in providing County Fair tickets for youth who would otherwise not be able to attend. We have also supported the Juvenile Department’s lunch with Santa program;
Philomath Community Foundation contributed to the building of the Philomath Scout Lodge and has supported several Eagle Scout projects and recently has been a contributing sponsor for the Veteran’s Day celebration held each year at the Scout Lodge;
Since 2007 Philomath Community Foundation has supported “We Care”, an organization which provides much needed support to those in need in Benton County;
Philomath Community Foundation is a supporting sponsor of the Philomath Arts Council and has contributed towards several community arts projects.
Philomath school activities, at all levels, have been supported as well. Included have been the music department, the drama department, baseball, cross country and track, the senior all night party, and many more.
Philomath Community Foundation has also been a regular participant in the Philomath Chamber of Commerce Samaritan Awards program;
Philomath Community Foundation contributed to the building of the Philomath Scout Lodge and has supported several Eagle Scout projects;
The Philomath Rotary Club Tree project was supported by the Philomath Community Foundation.
